Google pays tribute to Freddie Mercury on his birthday with its latest Doodle animation. The Google Doodle shows Freddie Mercury performing on a stage, in front of screaming fans. He is on a throne and is wearing women's clothing and a crown on his head. The animation is a minute-and-a-half long and is set on 'D'n't Stop Me Now'- Queen's 1978 smash hit.

Queen's legendary guitarist Brian May spoke about Mercury and told Google: 'Freddie was fully focused, never allowing anything or anyone to get in the way of his vision of the future. He was truly a free spirit. There are not many of these in the world. To achieve this, you have to be, like Freddie, fearless- unafraid of upsetting anyone's apple cart.'

Freddie Mercury was born on Spetember 5, 1946 and died on November 24, 1991.  The artist has been in a rought fight with AIDS before his death at the age of 45.

Google's effort to capture every side of Mercury's professional and personal personality was explained by Doodle's designer, Ryan Germick: 'The video has a lot of fun, goofy stuff to celebrate what an incredible song writer, fashion icon and musical innovator he was.'

'He lived life to the full. He devoured life. He celebrated every minute. And, like a great comet, he left a luminous trail which will sparkle for many a generation to come', Brian May said about the legendary Freddie Mercury.
