Halle Berry Seeks Child Support Reduction

Famous actress Halle Berry wants the child support payments she currently makes to be decreased by 80 percent. The star was ordered by a court to pay no less than $16,000 a month to her ex, but apparently the actress is not happy with this situation. The court decision dates back to May.

Well, now Halle Berry wants the sum to be reduced to about $3,000 a month. Apparently, the reason why the actress made this decision is actually linked to the fact that her former partner has stopped working and is living entirely off the money received from her. According to Halle Berry, this is an abuse of the system.

TMZ reported that Berry has already filed the legal documents. In the court filing the star reveals that Gabriel Aubry is perfectly capable of working, and if he would do so, he would be able to cover the expenses for his daughter. Berry says that reducing payments does not mean that the couple's daughter Nahla will not get everything she needs to live a comfortable life, as Aubry would have an income, too.

The former couple has joint custody of their 6 year old daughter. During a court hearing that took place this summer, the X-Men: Days of Future Past actress was ordered to make the payments to Aubry until Nahla will turn 19 or will graduate from high school, whatever happens first.

Currently, Halle Berry is married to Olivier Martinez and the couple has a 12-month-old son Maceo. Berry and actor Olivier Martinez married last year. Actually, Martinez and Gabriel Aubry got into an argument in 2012, when the custody battle started. The fight ended with both men being treated at a hospital for injuries. Oliver took out a restraining order, preventing Gabriel from coming within 100 yards of the couple, and Aubry did the same. Still, it seems that they managed to leave their problems behind and reach an agreement in court, for the sake of Nahla.

Back then, Berry said that she planned on moving with her daughter to France. However, a judge blocked the actress's plan to move to France and take her baby daughter with her. Halle Berry was ordered to pay her ex $16,000 a month in child support, but also to make a retroactive payment of $115,000 and $300,000 for attorney fees.

Gabriel Aubry began dating Halle Berry in November 2005. The model met the famous actress at a Versace photo-shoot. Nahla was born in March 2008. About two years later, in April, 2010, the famous couple announced their separation.
